Madagascar Forest

I had the opportunity to visit again Fairchild Botanical Garden. This organization is working to preserve some of Madagascar’s unique plants. I cannot describe the beauty of this forest! According to the website it is estimated that 85% of the island’s 12,000 species of flowering plants are found nowhere else in the world.

“We need the tonic of wildness…At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.” Henry David Thoreau. Walden: Or Life in the Woods
