“I will only say now that elegance must be the right combination of distinction, naturalness, care and simplicity. Outside this, believe me, there is no elegance. Only pretension. Elegance is not dependent on money. Of the four things I have mentioned above, the most important of all is care.” Christian Dior
“Pure, intense emotions. It’s not about design. It’s about feelings.” Alber Elbaz
“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
I decided to try something new with my photography today and this is the result. I need to keep pushing myself, not only to try new things, but to be a better designer / photo enthusiast / art director ~
“It took me a few seconds to draw it, but it took me 34 years to learn how to draw it in a few seconds.” Paula Scher (these series of logos belong to a very well-known restaurant, Los Ranchos, established in the 60’s in Nicaragua. As a brand, it is successful, having total acceptance and high esteem of their clients. As a designer, I find it would be great to know the story, the author of these logos. I feel it is sad that designs like these, that have stood the test of time -memorable -is an element of a successful logo- are forgotten or not appreciated to its fullness. Any country or city could benefit from studying the history of such designs and the successful brands they represent.)
I was lucky enough to get invited to the preview of MIA Miami International Art Fair aboard the luxurious yacht Seafair. According to their FB page, this art fair presents select international art dealers gather to showcase the most talented and visionary artists of the 20- 21st centuries. Exhibitions include cutting-edge photography, painting, mixed-media, sculpture, installation and video. Image quality is not the best but I hope you enjoy this post.
This piece is quite incredible, it seems so real.
Some artwork just wanted to make a strong statement like this toilet and tank.
Not sure if this is a real Warhol or a different artist using the Campbell soup cans made popular in the art world by Warhol.
I am not a fan of football, but I like to watch the ads and the half-time show during the Superbowl. Two ads caught my attention and I want to share them with you, (maybe you also saw them during the game).
The 1st one is regarding empowering women and what is means to be a woman as well as the respect we ALL deserve.
The 2nd ad is regarding life, wisdom and perhaps quality of life.
Fairchild Botanical Garden just started exhibiting the amazing work of American artist Dale Chihuly. His glass sculptures/installations are so beautiful and refreshing for the soul. The garden is breathtaking and the perfect setting for these pieces. Besides the exotic flora some birds can be spotted as well as other animals if you are lucky. I will share other images in a new post later this week.
This beautiful plant is called Miracle Fruit Plant. It bears a red fruit that makes sour or bitter flavors taste sweet. “Miracle” sits outside my apartment door, and is a daily reminder that good things are already in my life and new ones are coming with the help and grace of God. I hope you also believe in miracles too.
“Miracles happen everyday, change your perception of what a miracle is and you’ll see them all around you.” Jon Bon Jovi
“To my young friends out there: Life can be great, but not when you can’t see it. So, open your eyes to life: to see it in the vivid colors that God gave us as a precious gift to His children, to enjoy life to the fullest, and to make it count. Say yes to your life.” Nancy Reagan
